    More and more teachers at the high school level in American public schools are sending a new message to students:  there is an alternative to a college education, and you can become successful and be financially secure without that sheepskin.  Believe it or not, most of the jobs high school graduates are likely to find, with or without a degree from a four year college or university, do not require the possession of a degree.

    Many college-bound kids begin their young lives striving for degrees in professional, prestigious areas such as medicine, law, and engineering — and upon graduation, they find themselves staring down the barrel of thousands of dollars in debt over federal and private college loans that will take them years to repay.  In some cases, these loans amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars, and over a lifetime students find they are unable to repay them all.   Students often justify themselves in these choices based on anticipated income from their jobs, which is fine if you go into an industry that has high demand.

    It’s hard to believe summer’s already coming to an end, but here we again facing a new school year.  Whether you attend classes on a campus or taking advantage of online education, there are certain things you need to do to get prepared for back to school. 1. Obtain and verify all start dates and course enrollments ahead of time. Don’t wait to find out at the last minute that a course has been cancelled, or that it was too full for you to join this semester. 2. Be sure to read all your syllabuses as soon as you have them.  These contain the course outline and requirements so you’ll know what books and materials…
